Written a few months ago during a cold & depressing French winter, "By The Sea" is an ode to all our missed holidays and those that will never happen, but paradoxically served by an uplifting & bright music. The band temporarily quits its usual tumultuous indie & electro pop for a quiet bossa nova track to create its very own 21st century classic. Some kind of Beatles "Don't Let Me Down" versus "The Girl From Ipanema" mashup". Occasional lead singer Pauline uses her most breathy & ASMR vocals to create a less than 3 minutes cloud of comfort.
lyrics
Ho hey oh, hear my footsteps by the sea
Tell me who you're coming after
After me
Ho hey oh, I'm not as sad as it seems
My inner worried past teenager
Is just growing
You can go on, no it's a lie, you can go on, no it's a lie
You can go on, no it's a lie, you cannot go on, no it's a lie
Ho hey oh, cannot forget what you've seen
Never been too confidential
About it
Ho hey oh, the purest guilt of my dreams
Be careful what you wish for
You & me
Hello, I'm finding my new way home
And which constellation I'm coming from
Hell no, can't stop body & soul
Because in every nightmare
I'm drifting away
From you
It's a lie, it's a lie
It's a lie, oh oh oh oh
Ho hey oh, hear my footsteps by the sea
Tell me you are coming after you & me
