What if this was the last time? The last time we wake up, the last time we hug our loved ones, the last time we fall in love? One of the beauties of existence is our mortality. You only live this life once, and everything can end overnight.
These lyrics were written with this idea in mind, and in English, as usual.
But at the end another day locked in a cave for hours to record, produce and mix, the unthinkable happened. Billy had the idea of writing a version… in French! ominous music
Why do you write in English? This is a question that we have been asked so many times, and for which I always have the same answer. Music is central in my life because it makes me feel more than it makes me think. The fact that English is not my mother tongue allows me to immerse myself completely in the music and in the melody of the lyrics, tuning off their meaning if I want to. The words are then transformed into vibrations like any others and come titillate the areas of the brain which are only pure emotion. I was therefore only moderately won over by the concept.
That's when the magic happened... Amélie sang the demo in French and she was simply made for it. Her diction, her vitality and her playfulness serve the melody more than brilliantly. I have nevertheless remained mainly faithful to English, as a nod to our roots and to the fact that this will not become a habit! ^^
Amélie having appropriated the song like in her wildest French pop dreams, she took the artistic direction of the video that you can discover today. After I mentioned that a deceptively upbeat bilingual song like this would be perfect for Eurovision, her gaze froze, her jaw dropped open and she leapt up. She ran to raid a prank store in a cloud of smoke, gone in an unstoppable creative fever (for the downshifters reading us, all the costumes will be reused for the many school parties we will be forced to participate in the next few years).
The video was completely homemade, shot in less than 2 hours with our faithful green screen, under the half-amused, half-skeptical gaze of our mascot, Fiona. Its editing was just as chaotic, produced by a sick as a dog Billy, who encountered all the possible technical problems... Thanks to his gigantic work power in adversity!
The choice to keep the background green is a nod to our previous homemade videos that used this technique ("Porn Freedom", "Desktop Exodus", "Nevereverland"). For us, it's the end of a hyperactive year in which we have expanded our common work with the sole force of passion, with the support and regular help of talented friends. Our green background is our wobbly but sincere side that will never leave us...

I don't know about you, but as far as I’m concerned, on December 31 at 11:59 p.m., I will put this song on to dance like never before, because, if it happens… this is my last time !
